On Monday the 19th of Feburary we set off as a class to county Louth for our week at Carlingford Adventure centre(CAC). We arrived shortly before lunch time and got a talk from the head of CAC and ran through the rules and responsibilities. Afterward he told us who was in our rooms, the room number and gave us keys. At the start I was in a room with five others but after the first night a sixth joined. After we ate our lunch we headed off for our first activity, which was some sort of a mix between ziplines and mulitiple elevated obstacle courses. I found it challenging as i was on the most difficult course and eventually had to give up due to one specific obstacle. After around 30 miutes of waiting for poeple to finish we returned for dinner. After dinner we were faced with challenging indoor activities, they ranged between who could make the tallest tower out of shoes, eating two wheatabix dry the quickest and many other exciting activities. I finnished second place in the wheatabix challenge and was later told the person who came first cheated. Our team as a whole came second place. We then went to a fun room where some people played table tennis while others sat on couches and talked. Lights out was at 10:30pm and we all had to be at breakfast for 8am so we were all tired the next morning. Day:2 we were woken up at 8am by the intercom and headed downstairs for breakfast. we left the building at 9am adn headed off for our first activity which was canoeing. When we arrived everyone was looking forward to it, thinking it would be great fun. There were 9 canoes, but were conected in threes, so there were three groups of three canoes connected by wooden planks. After about ten minutes on the channel we were all freezing. I couldnt feel my hands or feet and felt like crying it was so cold. We were on the water for around an hour and a half minimum. My group of boats were the first group back so we brought up the boat, took of our lifejackets and helmets and ran for the warmth of the showers. After we came back for lunch and then headed off again for the second activity which was laser tag. This was by far my favourite activity. We were split up into two teams and sent to opposite ends of the forest course. My team lost every single time except for the last one which we won. That evenings activity was night line. night line was where we all trecked up to the forest. We then put on blindfolds and used our self awarness and trust of others to get through the forest by follwing a rope which was tied from tree to tree. There were many laughs and some people were more reliable then others when it came to telling people of the obstacles ahead. Day 3:Again we were woken up at 8am and set off at 9. Our first activities were archery, frisbee golf, and trampoline basketball, all of which were enttertaining and enjoyable. My favourite of the three was the frisbee golf. After lunch we had ziptopia. Ziptopia is a series of tall and long zippiness from the top of the forest zig-zaging all the way down and to finish it off we zip lined over a quarry. This activity was exillerating and the views we saw were spectacular. Final day: We started off the day by packing our bags and getting ready to go.After all that was done we set off for the first activity which was called the crystal maze. We started off strong completing the first challenge but on the second we missed out by seconds. Due to that our team self destructed and after another two failed challenges we asked the teacher if we could just do trampoline basketball instead . I think she felt sorry for us so she agreed to let us play. After lunch we went back to the same place but this time we were doing a series of obstacles. The first was by far the hardest as a group of four people were harnessed on and had to climp onto large horizontal wooden poles. We were ment to work as a team but no one helped each other. It turned into a competition of who could get the furthest. After that we had an obstacle that had us climb a vertical pole to a platform at the top, probably around 30 feet off the ground, when you got to the top you had to try the leap of faith. The leap of faith is when your standing on the platform and you jump out to try and grab a metal pole. Around 50% of people made it, around 30% didn't and the rest just didnt try. So after our last activity we went back to the centre gave our thanks said goodbye and then headed off for the bus.
