On September 13, 2017, I received my Junior Certificate results. We were required by the Headmaster to go camping with our year group. We set off at around noon and arrived around an hour later. The other members of my tent and I attempted to put up our tent. We failed four times before getting it right. Once all the tents were set up. we ate lunch and then set off on a five kilometer walk in preparation for a seventeen-kilometer hike the next day. That night I slept in the middle of the tent with little shelter from the wind which made the night very cold. We had a lot of fun talking and making jokes until we were told to go to bed. The next morning I was woken by an alarm clock from one of the neighbouring tents. We had bacon and cereal for breakfast and then packed our bags for the hike. The hike was long and tiring. The hike included walking on a road, through fields, up a mountain and down, through a bog land. Towards the end, I helped carry people across a stream. I then walked home in soggy socks and shoes. When we arrived at the campsite, we were told that we were going to go swimming in Lough Dan which was incredibly cold. We then raced for the warmth of the showers. On the final day, we were the last to take down our tent. We checked to ensure no litter was left on the camp site. We then stored all of our belongings under the bus and headed home.
